The clients for this project were well cultured and well travelled; this project involved a combination of Tuscan and French provincial influences to complete a country holiday retreat of refined distinction and class. The project consisted of a double storey brick veneer rendered home, enclosed secluded courtyard, machinery shed, sewerage treatment plant, high capacity water storage and a wine cellar/ fire bunker. The wine cellar was constructed into the side of a hill to create both an excellent wine storage facility and a place to retreat in the unfortunate event of a bushfire. The gardens have been completed to provide high drought tolerance and low maintenance, fresh herbs, olives and fruits have also been incorporated into the landscaping scheme to provide produce. The house sits on the edge of the king Valley wine region and maintains exceptional eastern views across the valley through to the Black ranges, Mt. Buffalo and the Victorian alpine region.
